Interesting Leak Details About Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5

Samsung dominates the foldables market in Europe and the US with its Galaxy Z Flip and Fold lineup. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 are scheduled to launch in late July. With the launch yet to come, the specs of the Flip 5 and Fold 5 have been made public in an interesting leak.

After a convoluted process – obtaining a link through binary code posted on Twitter via SnoopyTech – every technical detail of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 specs are now public. That includes display type, size, and SoC choice for each foldable.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 Specs

First, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will unsurprisingly feature two displays, one built-in and the other external. This time, Samsung is packing a larger display on the outside of the Flip 5. The display measures 3.4 inches and has a resolution of 748 x 720. The Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel inside measures 6.7 inches and appears to be capable of 120Hz, and the flexible screen will have a resolution of 2640 x 1080 that will let you “quickly check notifications, start and pause music, take selfies with the rear cameras, use the screen as a viewfinder and much more.”

As for internals, the phone will reportedly feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, 8GB RAM, up to 512GB storage, and a 3700mAh battery. The dual-camera setup packs 12MP primary and ultra-wide shooters and a 10MP selfie camera. Other specs include USB-C 3.2, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, and Dual-SIM support. In terms of system, the phone will run Android 13 (One UI 5.1.1) instead of the previously rumored One UI 6.0. Samsung appears to be planning to offer the Flip 5 in lavender, mint, cream, and graphite.

Galaxy Z Fold 5 Specs

The leaked Galaxy Z Fold 5 specs, things get a little more intense. Both display sizes hit the same size as the previous generation and are backed by a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel. The external display hits 6.2-inches at 2176 x 1812 while the internal screen comes in at 7.6-inches. Both are capable of 120Hz while the external display’s variable refresh rate hits a minimum of 48 frames per second.

Internally, the Fold 5 could use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and pair it with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. Its battery capacity will apparently remain unchanged at 4400mAh. The camera setup will also seemingly remain unchanged and include a 50MP f/1.8 primary shooter, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 3x 12MP telephoto. For selfies, there should be a 10MP f/2.2 camera on the external display and a 4MP under-display camera on the inner folding panel.

What’s more, the leaked dimensions suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be about 0.8mm thinner and weigh 253g, making it 10g lighter than the Z Fold 4. There are also news report that the Samsung Z Fold 5 may feature a waterdrop hinge, which will help reduce the visibility of the crease. As for the colors, the foldable should launch in Phantom Black, Cream, and Ice Blue colors.

Rumors have claimed the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 could be dust and water-resistant. It can support water resistance up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

In Conclusion:

There’s still over a month to go for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5’s official announcement. But given how leaked these phones have been, we’ll have to wait and see what surprises Samsung has in store for us.
