The iPhone 15 launch and release date are coming up soon as the Apple Event is tipped to take place on September 12 or 13.
Apple plans to release a total of four iPhone 15 models that are the same size as the iPhone 14 models, including two 6.1-inch iPhones and two 6.7-inch iPhones.
So what are the biggest iPhone 15 rumors and leaks?
For one, Apple seems to be finally embracing USB-C charging and ditching the Lightning port.
- Lightning interface not only requires a separate data cable, but also fast charging has long been outdated.
- The iPhone 15 series eliminated the Lightning interface and replaced the USBC interface to meet the regulatory needs of the European Union, which specified that the standard will force the use of the USBC interface in 2024, although the reason is for environmental protection and to avoid excessive charging heads.
- However, even if the iPhone 15 series is on the USBC interface, it does not mean that any USBC cable can be used, Apple will still encrypt, MFI certification is indispensable.
Second, the Dynamic Island is also likely coming to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
- The iPhone 15 models are expected to look similar to the iPhone 14 models, but the pill-and-hole cutout will expand to the entire lineup. That means all iPhone 15 models will have no notch, instead adopting the Dynamic Island introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro models.

- iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are expected to be equipped with Apple’s next-generation A17 Bionic chip, manufactured based on TSMC’s 3nm process for continued performance and efficiency improvements. The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to have an A16 Bionic chip.
Fourth, Titanium frame.
- Like the Apple Watch Ultra, the iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to have a titanium frame instead of stainless steel.
Fifth, iPhone 15 colors
- The most prominent iPhone 15 colors rumor for the iPhone 15 models claims the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a dark red color option;
- That same report also claimed Apple was look at light blue and pink as color options for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
Sixth, About Volume and Mute buttons.
- Instead of separate buttons for volume up and volume down, the iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to have a single elongated button for adjusting the volume up or down. Meanwhile, the mute switch that has been present since the original iPhone in 2007 is expected to become a mute button that can be pressed to turn the iPhone’s ringer on or off.
Finally, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will exclusively feature an upgraded Telephoto lens with periscope technology.
- The periscope lens will enable up to 5x-6x optical zoom when shooting photos with the rear camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, compared to up to 3x on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. When taking a photo, optical zoom does not have any blurriness when zooming in, like digital zoom does.
